Get the Facts!
The census is a decennial American tradition that counts all people living in the United States. From this count, we all secure our right to political representation and federal resources for schools, roads, and hospitals. Because Californians counted in the 2010 Census, we secured 53 members of Congress and over $115 billion in federal resources.
Why Does the Census Matter to Latino Small-Business Owners?
For Latino small-business owners, participating in the 2020 Census can be the key to running a successful business. Here’s how small-business owners in California benefit from everyone filling out the census:
Over $86M to pay for recruitment services for employers with job openings (via the Wagner-Peyser Act).
Over $121M for job training services so that employers can find people who meet their needs (via the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)
To fund Small Business Development Centers to help Latinos start or grow their business.
When policy issues like paid family leave, the Affordable Care Act, and tax reform affect your small-business, filling out the census ensures that you have a member of congress fighting for you in Washington to vote on these bills and more.
Join the CHCC, LCF, and Ready Nation to learn how Latino Business Owners can drive change and impact the Census as the cornerstone of our democracy to ensure a strong decade ahead.
